Roberto Rosario e593dcb5d8 Add missing Event class cache invalidation 
Needed when calling the refresh() method. Otherwise
null StoredEvent instances will be returned.

Michael Price 98f31ff491 Use the get_or_create method instead of a blind create to avoid duplicated notifications for the same event when the user is subscribed to the object's event and to the global event.

Roberto Rosario 6c6ca38374 Replace all instances of unicode only handling to use force_text. 
Replace all __unicode__ methods to __str__ and the
@python_2_unicode_compatible decorator.
Replace all instance of smart_str, smart_unicode, force_uncode
with force_text.
